If you are using an O/S version 4.1 or later, you can use this app to simulate hardware keys on your screen without rooting your device.

Got Root?

You can get Button Savior (Root) for your device, although it is not necessary because this app can simulate all hardware keys supported by newer Android systems already.

If you are unable to uninstall, you need to disable the screen off feature first. To do this, go to Settings > Location Security > Device Admin and remove Button Savior from the list.
